Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, September 21, 2023 – The Responsible Glove Alliance (RGA), an initiative of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), is a focused effort on forced labor Due Diligence in the rubber glove industry. The RGA held its first annual conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and it was a tremendous success, with notable speakers addressing a capacity crowd of more than 200 attendees on important, global regulatory and policy developments impacting rubber glove supply chains. Discussions began with keynote speaker YB Tuan Mustapha Sakmud, Malaysia Deputy Minister of Human Resources, followed by opening remarks from H.E. Ailsa Terry - British High Commissioner to Malaysia; Manu Bhalla - Chargé d'Affaires ad interim, U.S. Embassy in Malaysia; Mr. Denis Baresch - Minister Counsellor and Head of Trade, Delegation of the EU to Malaysia; Puan Syuhaida Abdul Wahab Zen - Undersecretary, National Strategic Office for Council of Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of Malaysia; and Heidi Hautala - Vice President, European Parliament.
The RGA’s Executive Director Anna Pienaar spoke with Brian Hoxie - U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Director, Forced Labor Division about salient issues and enforcement; followed by leadership roundtable discussions on industry best practices with Mun Leong Kuan - CEO, Hartalega; Tan Sri Dato' Lim Kuang Sia - CEO, Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd.; Vikram Hora - CEO, YTY Group; John Marsden - Senior Vice President of Operations and Supply Chain, Ansell Limited; Lori Crossley - ESG Supply Chain Due Diligence, Cardinal Health, Inc.; and Rick Glass - Vice President - Global Sourcing, Henry Schein, Inc.
